Within the framework of the MoU between the College of Environment and Natural Resources – Can Tho University, the Faculty of Science and Engineering – Kasetsart University, and Nano Environment Technology – Construction Limited Liability Company (Nanoen), environmental engineering internships for international students were successfully completed.
The internship is a component of a strategy to promote international cooperation and develop high-quality human resources in the environmental sector. Its objectives include the dissemination of cultural values, sustainable development, and the exchange of knowledge among countries.
Workplace experience
Following the success of last year, the second international internship at Nanoen welcomed Phaweena Phaengchapo and Aphichaya Saithong from the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Kasetsart University (Thailand).
Towards the circular economy, the chosen project was "The use of BSF larvae in the treatment of organic waste" Throughout the time frame of the project, interns were provided with orientation and supervision by their home institution, Kasetsart University, as well as their host institutions, Can Tho University and Nanoen.
The interns impressed the host institutions with being rational and responsible for duties and performing work with high interest and eagerness. Moreover, interns not only applied professional knowledge efficiently at each experimental stage but also proactively tailored research objectives to the needs of the enterprise.
Bridging the knowledge gap between academia and practice
Through the international internship program, Nanoen strengthens cooperation with Can Tho University and Kasetsart University (Thailand). Coordinating the implementation of applied research activities not only bridges the knowledge gap between academia and practice but also opens up opportunities to share resources and experiences as well as learn approaches and environmental management models from international partners.
Nanoen aims to further enhance its collaborations with domestic and international training institutes, particularly in the domains of environmental studies and sustainable development, leveraging the current cooperation platform. Strengthening the link between practice and academics will help to build real-world training programs, encourage applied research, and increase human resource quality.

Furthermore, the Nanoen personnel derived numerous advantageous benefits from the internship. Working with international interns allows them to enhance their English proficiency and increase their adaptability in a multinational work environment.
Cultural exchange on a daily basis also contributes to broadening perspectives, evoking understanding, and respect for cultural diversity in the working environment. This is a positive source of motivation, contributing to refreshing thinking, enhancing adaptability, and nurturing a spirit of professional solidarity within the company.

In addition to professional responsibilities, the apprenticeship establishes a significant cultural exchange platform between Thailand and Vietnam. Interns received the chance to engage in internal activities at Nanoen, experience daily life, enjoy the local cuisine, and explore the local area. This enhances comprehension and reverence for cultural distinctions while simultaneously fostering relationships that transcend the boundaries of solely professional work.
